Russian supply ship blasts off on 6-hour flight to station | Synopsis

Russian supply ship blasts off on 6-hour flight to station

Excerpt:

Loaded with 2. 9 tons of supplies and equipment, the Progress M-17M spacecraft climbed away from its launching stand at 3:41 a.m. EDT (1:41 p.m. local time) and accelerated smoothly toward orbit atop a jet of fiery exhaust. Eight minutes and 45 seconds later, the supply ship was released into its planned preliminary orbit, on track for a docking at the aft port of the Russian Zvezda command module around 9:40 a.m. "Good morning," station commander Sunita Williams radioed NASA flight controllers in Houston. "Happy Halloween, and hopefully our little trick-or-treat vehicle is on its way. We just got to see it out the window and that's pretty special. Hope you guys are having a great day." This was the fourth Progress launched this year, the second to follow an abbreviated six-hour rendezvous with the space station.

NJ Bridge Had Signal Problems Before Derailment | Synopsis

NJ Bridge Had Signal Problems Before Derailment

Excerpt:

But after the last one that night cleared the bridge, its crew got a radio message that the bridge failed to operate. Hersman says that may have been an indication that the bridge did not properly swing open to traffic on Mantua Creek below. She says when the train that derailed pulled up just before 7 a.m. Friday, the bridge signal light was red. That could be an indication that it was not locked into place.

NASA has selected Kelly for a one-year mission aboard the station in 2015. Kelly will join Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko on a mission that will collect scientific data important to future human exploration of our solar system. The goal of the yearlong expedition aboard the orbiting laboratory is to understand better how the human body reacts and adapts to the harsh environment of space. Data from the 12-month expedition will help inform current assessments of crew performance and health and will determine better and validate countermeasures to reduce the risks associated with future exploration as NASA plans for missions around the moon, an asteroid and ultimately Mars.

Key:

  • Aggregate Sentiment is meant to be an indicator of an individual's overall sentiment.
  • The Mean is meant to be an indicator of an individual's average comment sentiment.
  • The Standard Deviation, when there are enough quotes, will indicate an individual's consistency of sentiment (i.e. a Standard Deviation of 0 would mean they were very consistent in their sentiment and 1 would mean they were very inconsistent).

Note that quote stats are likely to be meaningless beyond the aggregate score due to the tiny sample size. However, they are always provided just in case you find something useful there.
