No human needs to exist. Hide caption Lettuce, 2011: Lettuce is expanded in a stacking system to provide an optimum use of area. Plants grow inside of plastic trays without dirt. A conveyor belt is moving the plants to ensure they get all round sunlight. The entire expanding process is computer regulated. Hide caption Tomatoes I, 2012: In order to have overall control over the nutrients and the irrigation, tomatoes are planted in sterilized product such as rock wool and not in dirt.
