Savannah-Chatham metro police officers at the fair had actually just cleared up an evidently unassociated fight near the rides when shots were fired close by at about 10:40 p.m., the Savannah Morning News reported. Nobody was killed but seven individuals were dealt with for gunshot wounds at area hospitals, Savannah-Chatham County police spokesperson Julian Miller said Sunday.

Authorities are investigating a string of attacks on dolphins along the Gulf Coast after some of the marine mammals were found with gunshot wounds and mutilations. "We responded to one dolphin from Alabama that had its tail cut off," said Dr. Moby Solangi, of the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies.
